Greek Yogurt Ice Cream Bars with Chocolate Shell
Do your kids constantly ask for frozen treats or refuse to leave the ice cream truck line at the park? As the weather gets warmer, you need to try these Greek Yogurt Ice Cream Bars! They are about to become the family freezer essential everyone keeps asking for.

These creamy frozen yogurt bars are made with ripe bananas, Greek yogurt, honey, and a quick chocolate shell coating. They are a healthier no-bake alternative to traditional ice cream bars and perfect for busy moms like you and me who are looking for an easy freezer treat for kids.
The center is creamy, smooth, and naturally sweetened, while the chocolate coating hardens into that magical crackly shell everyone loves. Honestly, they taste like the viral peanut butter banana Snickers bars… but made with much simpler ingredients.
And the best part? You only need a handful of ingredients and about 10 minutes of actual work. No ice cream machine, no churning, and barely any cleanup required.
Why You Will Love These Greek Yogurt Ice Cream Bars
They Taste Like Dessert
They taste like the viral peanut butter banana Snickers bars! TThere is a reason I keep coming back to the flavor combination of peanut butter, banana and chocolate. Sweet, salty and creamy, my whole family loves it.
They Are Easy Enough for Kids to Help Make
These are also incredibly easy to make. Since there is basically no baking science involved, this is the perfect recipe to make with your kids. My boys always want to help pour this or stir that in the kitchen. It keeps them busy and somehow makes them even more excited to eat the final product.
Suddenly snack time becomes an activity too. You are welcome.

They Are Great to Customize
Once you make the base recipe once, the flavor possibilities are endless. You can switch up the toppings, swirl in peanut butter or jam, or let your kids decorate their own bars with sprinkles and crushed cookies.
And honestly, nobody told me how important creativity is when feeding little kids. They may not care about the ingredients, but they definitely care about how food looks and what it is called.
Greek Yogurt vs. Cottage Cheese
I actually tested both cottage cheese and Greek yogurt for the creamy filling in this recipe. Both work great!
The only downside with cottage cheese is that you need to blend it first to get the same smooth consistency. To save time and dishes, I decided to use Greek yogurt here instead.
If you do want to use cottage cheese, you absolutely can. Or try these Strawberry Ice Cream Bars {with Cottage Cheese} for another fun variation.
How to Make Greek yogurt ice cream bars

Optional Ideas If You Do Not Have Popsicle Molds
- Use small paper cups with popsicle sticks
- Freeze the mixture in a loaf pan and slice into bars
- Use silicone muffin molds for mini frozen yogurt bites
Flavor Variations
Once you have made this recipe once, you will know that the flavor possibilities are endless. Here are a few of my favorites:
- Double Chocolate: Add cocoa powder to the base
- Strawberry Cheesecake: Add a cup of frozen or fresh strawberries with a splash of vanilla to the base
- Cookies and Cream: Crush some chocolate sandwich cookies and stir into the base and sprinkle extra on the chocolate shell
- Banana Pudding: Since we already have the bananas in the recipe, you can stir in some crushed wafers in the base and on the chocolate shell. This one is SO good oh my goodness.
What other flavor combinations would you try? I will have to pick my kids’ brain for more ideas and keep them excited at the same time.
These Greek Yogurt Ice Cream Bars are creamy, refreshing, easy to make, and perfect when you are short on time. They might even help your kids finally leave the ice cream truck line at the park.
And honestly, you will probably feel a lot better serving these homemade freezer treats knowing they are made with simple ingredients and naturally sweetened instead of loaded with conventional sugar.
