About Shuang Shuang Liang
Shuang Shuang (Shuangy) is the founder, recipe creator and storyteller behind Shuangy’s Kitchensink.

I was born in northern China and grew up in Shenzhen, a fast-paced city in the south, before moving to the U.S. at 17. I finished high school in Florida, then attended the University of Virginia, where I double majored in Economics and Psychology. I later continued at UVA to earn my Master of Science in Commerce with a focus on Data Analytics.
It was in Charlottesville — a city I hold close to my heart — where I met my husband. We later got married at Veritas, our favorite vineyard outside of Charlottesville, surrounded by family, friends, and good food/wine.
After graduation, I began my career at EY in Charlotte in 2016. At the time, believe it or not, I didn’t know much about “culinary.” But I always loved food. In Chinese culture, food is more than nourishment — it’s how we connect, share love, and celebrate life.
When I settled into my first home in Charlotte with my then-boyfriend (now husband), I had my own kitchen for the first time. That’s where my love for cooking truly began — experimenting with healthy twists on my beloved Chinese recipes and discovering joy in creating simple, wholesome meals.
In 2017, I started Shuangy’s Kitchensink as a passion project to share the recipes I was making along the way. To my surprise, it quickly grew into something bigger — a space where I could connect with people through food, creativity, and the real stories of motherhood. Before long, I left my corporate job to pursue this full-time.
Today, we have a beautiful and chaotic family with my two boys and our golden retriever, Biscuit. They bring so much joy to our lives, and I’ve loved creating food for my family — especially those picky little eaters. All of these experiences have led me to a thriving community of busy moms and food lovers. I’m so grateful for the chance to share recipes, laughter, and everyday real-life moments with you here.

A Few Fun Facts About Me
- My coffee is reheated at least three times before I actually finish it
- I can fold dumplings faster than my kids can unwrap them.
- I love dark chocolate but hate milk chocolate (except for Kit Kat)
- I spent more than half of my waking time in my kitchen
- I sneak veggies into more recipes than my kids realize
- My guilty pleasure after bedtime? I spent at least half an hour getting ready for bed, oh you know, the skin care, foot bath, flossing. Then I am in bed before 9 pm (hello, 8 hours of sleep!)
✨ I am so glad that you are here! Welcome to this community. I hope you love all the food here — and the extra mom friend you just made 😉
