Steps to Make this Easy Oatmeal Bake

What Type of Oats Should I Use for This recipe?

You might be familiar with a few oats that are most commonly used for breakfast or baking.

  • Rolled Oats
  • Steel Cut Oats
  • Quick Oats
  • Sprouted rolled oats

Sprouted rolled oats are not as common I know. But since I found it at Costco, I’ve loved making oatmeal for my boys and myself using sprouted oats.

I have also used it for baked oatmeal bars. And the texture did turn out a bit different.

Sprouted oats do not absorb as much liquid as regular rolled oats. So if you choose to use sprouted oats for this recipe it may take a little bit longer time. 40 minutes for me.

Steel cut oats do NOT work for this recipe.

Quick oats will not work well with this recipe either. The texture will likely come out mushy. Since quick oats are a lot finer and take a lot shorter time to cook.

Let cool and cut into squares

The Best Way to in Batches

These oatmeal bars can be stored in an air-tight bag in the fridge.

They are also perfect for meal prepping. You can double the batch and store cut them into individual scares because of freezing. So they are easier to break apart when you are ready to enjoy.

Simply heat one square of oatmeal bake in the microwave for 30 seconds (if frozen), then flip it upside down for another 10 – 15 seconds, or until preferred temperature.
