Often times, I feel like I race with how fast bananas ripen. Sometimes, they don’t get spotty fast enough, and I’m over here trying to make a banana bread. But other times, they turn ripe in a blink of an eye.
Anyway, today is one of those days, I have a banana clock ticking.
I was debating if I should make my go-to easy banana bread recipe, or my all time favorite sweet potato brownies.
You know when you are just craving both at the same time?
Why not combine them?
Chocolate Banana bread? Yes please.

You get the point.
I love Banana Bread.
Sweetened with bananas and sweet potatoes only, this recipe is healthy, so delicious and yet easy to make.
Here is what you need:
- 1 small ripe banana
- Steamed/baked sweet potato (super soft)
- Smooth Almond Butter
- Coconut Flour
I tweaked recipe a little bit with additional coconut flour to make it rise a little bit. But if you prefer super gooey and dense banana bread, feel free to omit coconut flour.

How to Make Chocolate Banana Bread
So I basically divided the two recipes in half and tweaked them a little bit to make this chocolate banana bread.
First, in two mixing bowls, combine all the wet ingredient together. You can either use a blender or immersion blender. If the sweet potatoes you are using are very soft, you can just smash and whisk everything together with a fork.
Second, add the dry ingredients to each bowl. Coconut flour to the banana bread, and cacao powder to the chocolate brownie batter.
Third, line a 9×5 pan with parchment paper. Pour half chocolate brownie batter in. Then gently smash it on your kitchen counter. Now pour all the banana bread batter on top. At the end, scoop the rest of the chocolate and spread across banana bread.
Lastly, add some extra banana or chocolate chip on top. Then bake for 35 – 40 minutes or until tooth pick come out clean.
Tip: The brownie takes slightly shorter time than the banana bread does in the original recipe. Therefore, adding coconut flour to banana bread can make the banana bread part take a little less time to cook.
How do you store Chocolate Brownie Banana Bread
Once completely cooked, store Chocolate Banana Bread in an air tight container in the fridge up to 4 -5 days. Or you can store it in the freezer for a month.
It can make an easy breakfast on the go! All you need is to take a piece out of the freezer, defrost it, top with yogurt, granola and fresh fruit. It is healthy, filling and will for sure kick your sweet tooth to the curb.
